The companies that make products seem to use unlimited amounts of packaging. Does one stick of gum really require 3 layers of wrapping? If all these water bottles are clogging our oceans, why aren’t manufacturers of beverages required to stick with glass or aluminum bottles?

Why I don’t mind recycling, I feel there would be much less need for recycling if companies were regulated by how much waste they created. I also don’t like it that recycling is voluntary. Why aren’t consumers and manufacturers alike compelled by law to cut down on waste and recycle?

I’m a treasurer at a recycling program at school, promoting school recycling. I’m thinking about planning a trip to a recycling factory that gives tours in new york city. Do you know any or ideas? -Thanks.

We have recently had to take our recycling rather than it be picked up. The bin we take it to is commingled recyclables- which means that it all goes in together. It made me wonder, is there someone that recycles all of this by dividing out the glass, paper, etc. or does it all just go to the landfill with the regular trash anyway?

I have to write a persuasive essay to the mayor to try to get them to enforce laws on recycling in businesses. What are some persuasive reasons that I can include. I’m having a complete Writer’s Block here.

When I put my recycling out every 2 weeks, we can put all of the different types of recycling together. But how does the paper get separated from the plastics and glass? Does someone manually do it, or is there a machine?
