Green Lasers Incorporate New Technology and Military Capabilities
The latest and greatest in green laser pointer technology have really begun expanding their abilities to provide great lifetime and a number of functions that find themselves practical for every day use, and military use. As opposed to what most people think, green lasers are used by various military forces quite regularly, from training exercises to actual combat excursions the military finds a number of valuable assets in laser pointers.
The newest green laser technology provides some spectacular advancements that the military finds quite formidable. Such as hard shell casings that are actually designed to withstand weapon recoil, water proofing, and the ability to use the laser as a close range blunt force weapon similar to a bayonet. When push comes to shove, there are only a few lasers out there that will meet the strict standards required for military deployment. But if you know where to look you can get your hands on the same lasers designed and used by the US military, completely legally of course, and get the finest laser pointer technology there is.
Now, naturally doing a bit of research into any product you are considering is a good idea, especially when it comes to new lasers. Different manufacturers develop different designs and they can run the gamet from a great laser to a piece of junk, so knowing what to look for or where can be key to getting something worth your time. Also, you should think about what you need the laser for, how far do you plan on aiming the beam, what color are you looking for, etc.
Military lasers are no longer reserved for non-private use and can really provide a great addition to anyone’s gadget collection. The technology has become far more accessible and powerful lasers have become reasonably priced as opposed to the large sums required when the technology was first developed over a decade ago. Today you can get a 100mW green laser (about 20+ miles of distance from the beam) for less than $500 which was unheard of some years ago. Depending on what your looking for these can also now be used in convenient pen shaped forms instead of the large bulky designs that used batteries you could never find.
Safety is going to be a key issue whenever considering a green laser that is powerful, really above 50mW. When you start to get towards the higher outputs you may consider safety goggles for protection when using the beam up close, but also where you are aiming the laser. Where as the military is specifically using the lasers to target planes, buildings, and insurgents or people, you are not allowed to. It is illegal to point a laser at an airplane in the United States and rightfully so, it can be a nuisance to a pilot. Although there has never been any cases of accidents being caused by lasers, it is still illegal and never a good idea anyway. So keep some safety in mind when you are using a laser, but besides basic common sense there really is nothing stopping you.
James has been speaking and writing about laser pointer technology and green lasers for more than a decade and has seen the transformations made by leading green laser manufacturers. As an expert in the field with ties to military tech’s and leading industry tech’s his advice in design and functionality has been used for leading technology trends and positive changes in the past.
