Going Green Is The Right Thing To Do!
Going green means you are becoming more aware of environmental consequences for your actions and are consciously making choices that have less negative impact on the earth.
It doesn’t matter if you believe global warming is a normal cycle or a human caused emergency; what does matter is that conserving natural resources and protecting the environment from air, and water pollution and becoming overrun with trash and toxic chemicals makes sense, doesn’t it? Our children deserve a place to live that isn’t left poisoned by our carelessness.
Being green means you realize this is the only planet humans can live on that we know of, and so you take some responsibility yourself to make conscious choices that help preserve the earth for our future generations. Choices such as conserving water and electricity and recycling are good for the environment.
Preserving the planet is a group project that relies on individual efforts that come together as a whole to make a difference. Since it is for the most part voluntary, how do we get more people interested in going greener? More education on the topics of recycling, effects of pollution, conservation of water and energy would be required.
There are many ways we could improve our efforts without totally inconveniencing ourselves. Some people go to extremes regardless of the cause and others do what they can without making sacrifices. We can’t expect green living to be everyone’s passion but we can put forth some effort to do help out and encourage others to do the same.
Truly going green involves much more than saving water, electric and recycling such as eating organic food to avoid pesticides, doing business with green minded companies, wearing organic clothing, riding a bike to work rather than driving, and so on. Most of us will never get to that stage of earth friendliness, but if we just reduce waste of water and electricity and recycle the basics, that would be a good start.
While some being green measures initially cost more money, for example generating your own wind or solar power for your home and replacing appliances with energy efficient models, most efforts will save you money within a reasonable period of time.
What follows are just a few tips that anyone can do
recycle all you can
donate usable items
use recycled items such as copy paper
install a programmable thermostat
stay away from using disposable things such as paper plates, styrofoam cups
cut down use of electricity by turning things off , switch to CFL lighting, use fans more, wash clothes in cold water
save water by installing low flow devices in bathrooms, and generally running less water
continue educating yourself on this topic and share your knowledge with others
teach your kids good eco-friendly habits
Once you start making some changes toward living green you will find yourself being more alert about more changes you can make, and that will result in more planet friendly decisions.
